Dan Richards is an accomplished trial attorney who is considered to be at the very pinnacle of his profession in the specialized areas of commercial litigation, pipeline litigation, construction litigation, business litigation, and personal injury litigation. With broad experience in every facet of the civil process, Dan is adept at resolving differences between parties through informal discussion; alternative dispute resolution via arbitration panels and mediation; and, when necessary, full jury trial. It is his hands-on experience in the courtroom that distinguishes Dan from other attorneys in his practice area.
When all else fails and a case goes to trial, jury selection can make or break a client's case. Dan's ability to determine juror attitudes and biases help him pick jurors, who, based on the evidence presented, will be receptive to Dan's case themes. Dan approaches every case from a position of strength, armed with the ability to distill complex legal concepts in a simple and clear language.
Dan has tried cases to a jury involving contractual disputes, underground utilities, construction defects, insurance issues and death. He has litigated a variety of business disputes such as non-compete agreements, breach of fiduciary duty claims, buy/sell agreements and shareholder/stockholder agreements. Representing plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation sets him apart from other attorneys in his field and further illustrates his in-depth knowledge of trial procedure. While Dan has represented municipalities in construction contracts, he has also had success litigating against cities in pipeline lawsuits involving sovereign immunity and eminent domain issues. This uncommon ability to prepare successful cases from a variety of perspectives underscores Dan's expertise and flexibility as an attorney.
Dan Richards is known for his direct manner and straight shooting. As we say in Texas, "he comes by it honest." Dan's mother was one of the most sought after political speakers of this generation. Dan's father is still one of the most respected trial lawyers in Texas. The personal characteristics inherited from his parents are a valuable complement to Dan's legal skills, helping him communicate effectively with clients, opposing parties and juries.
Dan's professional strengths, personal approachability and creative intelligence combine to make him an exceptional attorney. He carefully evaluates each case, objectively assessing his client's circumstances and needs, and counsels them on their best legal options. The client's best interests are always paramount.
